Chapter 11: The Day the Bible Paid My Bills

I am wondering how the Bible gives me solutions so often—not only for taking decisions, not only comforting me when I am sad, not only giving me strength and confidence when I feel low—but even giving me money when I am broke.

I am staying in a hostel, and nowadays my expenses are more than the pocket money that my parents send every month. Usually, I am able to save at least ₹600 from my pocket money every month, but for the past two months, my expenses have been more than what I receive. This month, I actually thought I was going to save ₹1000 from my pocket money, but unfortunately, I lost my spectacles again, and now I am broke with a bank balance of ₹43, and I have to run a whole week with this.

I always feel very hesitant to ask my parents for extra money beyond my monthly pocket money. I already bought new spectacles for ₹1500. I had a balance of around ₹300, and I kept that for my weekend dance class travel because the class ends late at night, and I have to go to Ashok Nagar. I am not familiar with the area, so I might need to book an auto.

Unfortunately, since it is a new semester, I got a notification that I have to pay ₹400 for books. I asked my mom for ₹200, but she sent me ₹500, so I paid for the books and had some balance left.

Then there was the ‘Ditwah’ cyclone alert. My father called and told me to buy and keep necessary food for 3 days because I wouldn’t be able to go out and there would be no current to cook. I was thinking that on Saturday I have to go to Ashok Nagar and on Sunday to Adyar. I am not familiar with the place, and I might need to book Rapido because the workshop will also end late at night. But I didn’t have enough money.

I planned like— instead of getting bread and spread, I can just buy those ₹10 cakes. I remembered that I had seen ₹30 inside my Bible and thought I could use that. Last year, I had the habit of keeping money inside random pages of my Bible. I thought I had used everything. I opened the Bible to take that ₹30, but I was shocked—I found ₹100.

I was genuinely wondering how I didn’t find this ₹100 for the past 6 months, even though I use my Bible daily. But I got it exactly when I was really in need.

I’m just amazed at how God plans everything.
He didn’t even leave me in hunger.

In this small moment, God reminded me that He never forgets my needs. Even when I worry about the simplest things—like food or travel—He provides in the most unexpected ways. His timing is always perfect. Truly, He didn’t even let me stay hungry.

Sometimes God answers through miracles, sometimes through people, and sometimes through small things we never expect—like a forgotten ₹100 inside a Bible. His timing is perfect, His care is personal, and His provision is constant. He watches over even the tiny details of my life and never leaves His children empty-handed.

Then I remembered the verse: “Look at the birds of the air… your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they?” and “My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.” — Philippians 4:19.
And in my lowest moment, the Bible literally gave me money when I was broke.
